I discuss some of the properties of the Super Takumar and the ways to mount the lens to a Canon DSLR such as 7D, 60D or t3i 600D. I also talk about mounting filters to the lens using the step up ring adapter. Super Tak is an exceptional, fast, inexpensive filmmaking lens which has been successfully used on a number of DSLR productions. Due to its low cost, the Super Tak has become a popular lens in many Canon EOS DSLR shooters' kits. The lens excels at creating pleasing shallow depth of field, with characteristic bokeh effect. Super Tak is an excellent portrait lens, especially on 1.6x crop factor cameras such as 60D or t3i. Given the crop factor, the lens behaves like an 80mm (equivalent on 35mm camera), which looks amazing on close-ups of people. Super Tak is a very fast lens, exceptionally suited to low-light work. The lens opens to F1.4, while remaining amazingly sharp. I've compared the Super Takumar with Canon 50mm EF 1.8 lens, and the Super Tak wins hands down. The build quality of the Super Tak is 'old-school' solid, compared to Canon's flimsy lens. I love the feel of Super Takumar's focusing ring. I also love to have the f-stop ring on the lens. This video addresses one of the problems you might run into when using the film/night vision DIY IR camera method. That problem is how to film in bright sunlight without the video being all washed out and void of any detail. One solution is to use the film canister method, which is really quite simple: 1) Get a hold of a film canister. If you don't have one go to Walmart and ask someone at the photo lab for one. Get one with a black bottom and grey cover. You'll only need the cover. 2) Drill a hole right in the center of the canister cover. You can experiment with the size of the hole, but 1/8 inch seems to work okay. 3) Place the canister cover over the lens of your video camera. This will fit very nicely over most of the slightly older models, and will be good enough on the newer ones. 4) When you look into the viewfinder/lcd display you will notice blackness surrounding a circular area where you are shooting at. Zoom in until there is no longer blackness in the corners. 5) You are now ready to shoot. A quick guide on taking the Sony 18-70mm kit lens apart. This lens has a problem with the AF gears (seemingly a common problem). The gears slip causing a grinding noise. I've yet to find a fix for this. If you've found this video useful please let me know! (Update: I've been playing around over the last few days, and have managed to get the rear glass element out. Embarrassingly, I haven't been able to reconstruct it as it's extremely fiddly! I'll post a video if I ever manage to put it back together.)

In this video you are seeing me test out the Hoodman Cinema Kit Pro which consists of a Hood Loupe 3.0 and CInema Crane. Let's talk about the loupe first, for those of you who used to use a loupe and a light box to look at negatives or slides this is the same concept. This video is an answer to an email I received shortly after doing my video on setting up the JVC Everio and a Letus Mini DOF adapter. Someone wanted to know what I was using for a case. So, here is a vid showing what I did. While very customizable, and pretty roomy, It is not as good as a Pelican case. it's still much more protective than an over-the-shoulder soft camera case or bag. Best of all, it is INEXPENSIVE. The Nikon D7000 is a dust- and moisture-sealed 16.2-megapixel DX-format DSLR camera with a 39-point AF system, 14-bit analogue-to-digital conversion, 6fps continuous shooting, dual memory card slots and Full HD video with full-time autofocus and manual exposure control. The new AF module includes 9 cross-type sensors in the central part of the frame. Photographers can also activate 3D tracking, which continuously follows moving subjects within the 39 AF points, highlighting the activated AF point in the viewfinder - which in turn has 100% frame coverage and 0.94x magnification. Also new is the 2016-pixel 3D Colour Matrix meter, which Nikon calls "groundbreaking". The Nikon D7000 has a native ISO range of 100-6400 that can be expanded to ISO 25600; another first in a Nikon DX camera. The video mode of the D7000 offers variable frame rates of 20, 24 or 30fps at 720p, and cinema-standard 24fps at the 1080p setting. I'm not impressed much so far comparing to my other Sony hx bridge camera I have been using on both photos and videos. After using the 60D for several days and taking several photos. I would stick with this camera. Most people say higher pixels means nothing. Actually it does. Cropping a photo with higher pixels still remains crystal clear. Compare cropping a photo with only 12,10 megapixels and below. Ofcourse it also depends on the lens you are using. Also, there are more specs to be considered. But i will stick with the CANON 60D and choose it over the NIKOND7000. I also tried the video. Set to 1080P, WOW! Crystal clear video! I bet CANON has better video quality compare to NIKON because CANON also makes camcorder. NIKON does not.

Nikon D3200: Full time auto focus performance and noise 18-55mm at 18mm no mic - 1:12 18-55mm at 55mm no mic - 1:56 18-55mm at 18mm with ME-1 mic - 2:40 18-55mm at 55mm with ME-1 mic - 3:24 18-200mm at 18mm no mic - 4:08 18-200mm at 200mm no mic - 4:52 18-200mm at 18mm with ME-1 mic - 5:37 18-200mm at 200mm with ME-1 mic - 6:21 Those eight video samples recorded with the Nikon D3200 test it's ability to maintain focus in the full time auto focus mode and show not only the noise/sound produced by the lens while the camera does this, but it also shows the difference in noise generated by the 18-55mm lens and it's external focus AF-S system and the 18-200mm lens and it's internal focus (IF) AF-S system. I also test the ME-1 Stereo Microphone and find out how much less noise from focusing is picked up while using this microphone attached to the camera. I also show how to activate and disable the full time auto focus function and I show how to pick your favorite focus option whether it be AF-S Single Servo AF, AF-F Continuous Full Time Servo AF, or MF Manual Focus. The Vibration Reduction (VR) function of the lenses is active during this entire video. It is a fantastic function and works quite well to stabilize the image.
